I am an attachment and trauma based therapist. This means that I believe that being in relationships can trigger attachment wounds from childhood and past relationships, impacting ones ability to work through current relational stressors and injuries. This can often look like difficulty communicating and connecting in a partnership, or feeling lost or disconnected from self individually.
I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples therapy which dives into the negative interaction cycle between couples that is driven by unmet (often unknown) attachment needs.
I am also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and wholeheartedly believe that this is a vital tool for healing. EMDR is able to bypass the front of the brain to directly access the nervous system to reprocess “stuck” traumas. This can be used both individually and within an attachment (couples) framework. I am currently in the process of certification.
I have Master’s degrees in both Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy and have served the mental health community for 15 years in Arizona as well as New York. This diversity in training has taught me how to view the individual through a holistic relational perspective and view the couple through their individual psychological perspective. I also enjoy implementing the personality typology of the enneagram to deepen understanding of self.
My goal in the therapy room is to create a safe space and alliance for my clients to feel and heal. I believe that it is possible to not only become, but to unbecome what you perceive yourself to be and rewrite the stories you tell, about you and your relationship.
I am a single mom of 2 boys (a teenager and a toddler) an avid reader and an animal lover. I am originally from the east coast and love the AZ landscape and winters.
I can’t wait to see you bloom!
